Gunlom Falls has to be the most beautiful swimming pool I’ve ever been in.
It’s a bit of a drive into Gunlom off the main road within Kakadu, but so worth it. Go slow on the dirt road coming in, there’s a few corrugations. Once you arrive, it’s a short hike up to the top swimming hole. The bottom plunge pool was closed due to the threat of saltwater crocs.
There are a series of pools at the top, which trickle down over the cliff as a waterfall. That trickle will grow once the wet season arrives.

Headed down the Seward Highway from Anchorage, almost right across the street from Portage Glacier Rd, is one of the most beautiful conservation centers Ive ever seen. Set up in the Chugach National Park with majestic glacier capped mountains in the background is the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Visitors have an opportunity to get an up close view of AK wildlife including elk, caribou, owls, bears and this moose, among many others. You have the option of walking ir driving through, but i highly recommend the walk. Its not a very expansive place but it is just absolutely incredible to see and you will not get the full experience from the inside of a car. Best of all, all of the proceeds from their entrance fees goes back into the conservation center! Discovered by Kathryn Reichert at Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, Fairbanks, Alaska. The Chess Pavilion at Huashan, such a stunning place. We spent 8.5hrs hiking from the north peak to all 5 summits then back to the north peak cable car. An absolute must do when in Xi’an as it’s only 30 minutes on the bullet train. If you can, visit on a fine day so visibility is better :)
